About the blog.-
A place where I can share with students (past, present and future) what I have learned over the past 40+ years of professional playing, and what I have learned (mostly from my students) from teaching blues guitar lessons (and other styles-30+ years.)
Mostly that knowledge will be in the form of blues guitar lessons. But I will try to write essays etc…about a wide range of topics.
I will place lessons from THE BLUES GUITAR BOOK (PDF & mp3 downloads). Along with some of the supplements from that blues guitar lessons book. These first six blues guitar lessons start from the very beginning with the stuff all blues/rock/rock-a-billy players need.
Many of the essays and lessons I will put here will be blues guitar lessons, (like the six I just mentioned), but most will be applicable to all styles of guitar playing and just general information for players of any instrument.
Some lessons will also be taken from my general guitar lesson plans, (which include all styles I’ve taught over the last 30+ years) and, of course, from my Blues Workshop Manuals.
There is no substitute for live “in person” lessons with a good instructor. I started this blog and put these lessons out here for those students who for one reason or another can’t hook up with one for private lessons, or can’t attend workshops. (Also just to supplement what instruction you do have.)
I am also placing a lot of my recorded music (In category my music) here to listen to free. These will be the full lenth versions, not just the samples! (If you have some way to copy the mp3 files, no problem.) To listen now: http://www.stanhirsch.com/blog/category/my-music
Thanks and enjoy-Stan
